2004 TMR Recap Edition

Over 250 curlers and supporters of Kurling for Kids enjoyed a day of curling this past Saturday, March 27th - and all in the name of fundraising. This year's event took place at both the TMR Curling club in the Town of Mount Royal and Glenmore Curling Club in Dollard des Ormeaux. To raise funds for the Kurling for Kids tournament, curlers were asked to raise money by collecting donations. As well many businesses and individuals were very generous with private donations to the cause.

After last year's record breaking amount raised of $25,000, we set the bar a little higher. This year's goal was to raise $30,000 to enable us to purchase Syringe Pumps for the Montreal Children's and a BiPAP Respirator for St. Justine's. Syringe Pump are used to administer medication to children in the Neonatal unit. The BiPAP machine helps patients breath easier and is different from a traditional ventilator or respirator, because it is non-invasive, meaning that there is no surgery necessary and no tubes needed.

Well, we not only hit our goal, we surpassed it. $31,000 was the final count !

The event was also attended by members of the Montreal Alouettes Football club - Anthony Calvillo, Barron Miles, Kevin Johnson, Ozooma Okeke, Brad Collinson and Luke Fritz as well as trainers Scott Suter and Rodney Sassi. Radio personalities from Montreal stations CHOM and CJAD also attended - on hand were Terry Dimonte, Ted Bird, Kim Rossi, Trevor the intern, Andrew Carter, Rob Martier, Karlie Goodleaf and Oliver Sedra. In an epic battle, the Montreal Alouettes beat the CHOM team on their way to second place overall in the tournament.

Carmela Vespa, Brian Meehan, Murray Barrett and Connie DeFalco

3rd Place - Robert Sears, Ed Larente, Yvan Nguyen and Amanda Velluci
